Blairgowrie Dental Care

**Important covid19 update**
We are currently working under COVID restrictions set by the Scottish government via the Chief Dental Officer These guidelines restrict the way in which we are able to provide treatment.
We are currently working through our check up waiting lists in a chronological order, prioritising children. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and test it once more by asking that you wait for our call rather than calling in to enquire about services unless, of course, you are having any dental problems. If so, please get in touch and we will arrange a suitable appointment.
Thank you all for your support and understanding.

Our Practice has 9 dentists, all fully qualified and highly experienced.

We use the latest materials and advanced equipment to enable
us to provide the best possible service.

All our staff are fully qualified, and we continually invest in staff training.

Our team consists of:

  • dentists
  • hygienists
  • dental nurses
  • childsmile team
  • decontamination staff
  • management team
  • reception staff

Blairgowrie Dental Care was formed in 1985 by Jim Estill with one surgery shared between Jim and Alistair Geddes. The practice grew quickly with the addition of a second surgery and then a third surgery to accommodate a young trainee dentist, Stewart Maclean in 1991. Back then our patients were mostly residents of Blairgowrie and Rattray but as our reputation grew, we began to welcome more and more patients from the surrounding area. We now have a regular patient base which includes Alyth, Meigle, Newtyle, Bridge of Cally, Kirkmichael, Braemar, Coupar Angus, Murthly, Burrleton, Dunkeld, Stanley, Luncarty, Scone, Perth and Dundee. We also have several patients that, although they do not live in Blairgowrie, work in or around Blairgowrie and find it easier to attend their dental appointments during the working day rather than when they get home.

As a result of this, the practice has changed dramatically since 1985 to ensure that we can comfortably accommodate all of our patients. We now have eight modern dental surgeries and a state of the art instrument sterilisation room. Our dental team has also grown; in 1995 Claire Williams joined the practice as did Neil Rutherford in 2007 and they are both now the principle dentists alongside Stewart MacLean. In total we have nine dentists, four hygienists, eleven nurses, two instrument processing staff, three reception staff and a practice manager. We strongly believe that a happy team delivers the best care so regularly organise team building events, here is a taster -

Blairgowrie Dental Care is a recognised Vocational Training practice which means that we are approved to provide post graduate training.  To be a training practice involves meeting specific criteria.  These include, using all the latest materials and techniques, adhering strictly to current infection control guidelines and ensuring all our staff receive regular training to improve their skills and knowledge.  We receive regular inspections to ensure that we consistently maintain our high standards.

Every year, since 2010, we have managed to achieve The British Dental Association’s ‘Good Practice’ Award. This is the leading quality assurance programme for UK dental practices. By becoming members of the Scheme we have had to demonstrate a visible commitment to providing quality dental care to nationally recognised standards. Practices taking part are required to keep up-to-date with all current requirements in order to provide the best care for their patients.

We continue to strive to provide the very best care and premises for our patients and are continuing to invest in equipment and fabric to ensure this is maintained.
